HISTORY
At an altitude of 450 meters, Château de Codignat surpasses the small village of Bort L'Etang. Originally, the castle was erected as a watch tower for the Ravels, who were able to defend themselves against the enemies of the Val Dore, and from there also controlled one of the largest arcs. This is a type of sandstone used in the region for centuries for the construction of castles, churches and sarcophagi.
