About Sintra, Parques de Sintra and Monte da Lua
The Cultural Landscape of Sintra, comprising nearly 930 hectares, was classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1995, the first landscape to receive this classification in Europe.

It forms part of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.

Located on a granite mountain range less than an hour from Lisbon, its unique microclimate has, since the times of the Muslim occupation, made it a favourite summer resort of kings and aristocrats, who built palaces and planted gardens and forests of immeasurable value.
