Be a Guest at the Palace of the Portuguese Kings,

The Bussaco Palace has all the features of the dreamer’s “romantic palace” - set in the heart of the glorious Bussaco National Park, high on a hill, and resplendent in its decorative Manueline-Gothic architecture. The legendary palace was built for the last Kings of Portugal in 1885, now amongst the most beautiful and historical hotels of the world. 

 Located north of Coimbra one of Portugal's oldest cities 
(it already was an important municipality in Roman times) and is home to one of the world's first universities. just 2 hours away from Lisbon and 1 hour from Oporto amidst the “Bussaco National Forest”, a 250 acres centuries-old walled forest planted by the Order of the Barefoot Carmelites in the 17th Century.

Wine Cellar
A large selection of old Portuguese wines is also available, with a highlight on the Bussaco Wine, the legendary specialty mis-en-bouteille-au-château since 1920, considered a world-class wine -with its marvelous old aging legendary reds, drinkable from 1945 onwards, and exceptional whites, starting by an astonishing 1944 harvest. So, if you are lucky, you can probably still find a vintage from your birth year.

The Royal Dining Hall:
The beautiful restaurant, former royal banquet hall that once host historic banquets, decorated with ten huge paintings of Camões´Os Lusiadas’, depicting scenes of Vasco da Gama's voyage to India, and under a magnificent Moorish ceiling, you will indulgence with fine modern Portuguese terroir cuisine mastered by prominent Chef Dionísio Ferreira, who proposes a most authentic and creative gastronomical tour of the best local flavors.

Rooms and suites 
For being a historical rather than a deluxe experience, enhancing the extraordinary beauty, charm and magic of this very special place, not all the rooms are renovated to modern comforts, nor are they all designed to be. Comfort travelers should be forewarned that some of the rooms are preserved in their historic state, so, while some compromises are made, much of the current amenities and features are of an earlier time. But do not let this distract you from the extraordinary beauty, charm and magic of Bussaco. Sometimes you might appreciate not being in a modern hotel. All 60 rooms and suites with turn-of-the-century Art Nouveau or Art Déco, or classical Portuguese D. Maria or D. José furnishings.
