Situated on a hill , commanding a strategic position over the vast plains of the Baixo Alentejo, Beja was already an important place in the antiquity and was inhabited by the Celtic. The Beja Castle is only 700 metres from the Pousada de Beja and the Queen Dona Leonor Museum is found a mere 300 metres away.
