An old Franciscan Convent
The Pousada de Beja, São Francisco, is a hotel right in the centre of the city of Beja, in an old XIII century convent, the result of which is a majestic, impressionable architectural work, which represents religious and gothic architecture.

History
The first registers of the convent date back to 10th November 1268, a date which marks the emergence of the S. Francisco Community in Beja under the initiative of the Captain General Lopo Esteves and the Councillors Diogo Fernandes and Vasco Martins.

The Restaurant
The restaurant of the Pousada de Beja takes up space that was once the refectory of the Franciscan friars.

We recommend our famous Convent Cod, the speciality of the Pousada and we invite you to try our buffet of convent desserts, without forgetting the distinct Dourada soup.

If your preference should be the typical lamb, then feast yourself on our Lamb à la Sheppard and accompany it with a regional wine from our menu.

The Rooms
The Pousada de Beja has a total of 35 rooms: 30 standard rooms, 4 superior rooms and 1 suite. The spacious rooms invite you to spend a family holiday whilst the romantic atmosphere calls you on a getaway for two. We highlight the suite, a space that seamlessly blends its grandeur with the recreation of the cosy corners which make you feel right at home.
