HISTORY
Construction of the villa began around 1735 under the Fattori family, on the same wing as an existing 16th-century wine cellar and on the original site of an ancient arusnate settlement which later became a settlement from the Roman period.

THE VILLA
The complex consists of a main building with two lower advancing wings, ending in two symmetrical facades. The bell tower of the chapel —dedicated to St. Gaetano— is built on the east wing. Gates on both wings grant access to the laborors’ housing and the cellars.

THE ESTATE AND ITS MANY DIVERSE PARTS
Villa Mosconi Bertani is uniquely well-designed for hosting an event: the many diverse spaces both internal and external - all conveniently positioned at the ground floor level - offer numerous set-up possibilities, enabling you to organize a staged event with plenty of room for imagination: stylish cocktail bars, ceremonies, musical entertainments, theatrical or circus-style diversions, gala dinners indoors or under the stars, lavish buffets, dance parties with spellbinding fireworks displays; all in all, a picture of intimate and congenial elegance with a touch of spectacle.

The rooms of the villa have air conditioning and come equipped with wi-fi and a wireless sound system to provide background music. All systems require high-powered plugs of 220v and 380v and selected rooms are equipped with audio and video projection.

THE INTERIOR
The beautifully frescoed Chamber of the Muses —also dedicated to small performances of Opera buffa and later Opera Seria and where you can see the two Mosconi coat-of-arms— is a three-story central hall, surrounded by a painted wooden balustrade which cuts the room into two stacked horizontal bands:

THE CELLARS
The presence of grape cultivation was first documented in 1028, though oral traditions hold that vines were grown on the grounds of Novare long before.

THE GARDENS AND GROUNDS
By the end of the 18th century, Romanticism, the fashion of the time, had spread to Verona. English-style gardens started appearing —rolling landscapes, exotic plants, meandering paths, hidden corners with faux archaeological ruins— instead of the Italian style, which was predominantly green and ordered. Following this trend, the brothers Giacomo and Guglielmo Mosconi reshaped the land behind the house, adding two prominent features, a garden and a small wooded area.

GUIDED TOURS AND WINE TASTINGS
Villa Mosconi Bertani has been an important centre for the history of Art and Wine in Verona. Still today the Bertani family continues this important winemaking and cultural tradition.

A program between history, architecture and wine
Guided tours include a program that illustrates history, architecture and winemaking production, bringing guests through the elegant rooms of the Villa, the gardens and romantic park, the vineyards of Amarone and Valpolicella and the ancient cellars. It is possible to book only the visit session, or to combine it with a tasting session.

The tasting of the wines of our terroir.
After the guided tour, it is possible to join the tasting which includes a minimum of four wines from the Bertani family’s production, coming from different valleys of the Verona area. Our hospitality illustrates the terroir of origin, grape variety, winemaking and organoleptic characteristics od each wine. Further down the page you will find details about the costs of tastings and wines served.
