55 km and 40 minutes from Venice is Castello del Catajo in the Battaglia Terme, a few minutes from the spa towns of Abano and Montegrotto and is quickly reachable also from Padua.

 THE CASTLE
A monumental building full of history, charm and legends built starting from the 16th century by Pio Enea I degli Obizzi near Battaglia Terme (Padua); the Catajo is a unique dwelling of its kind that over time has been a princely villa and military accommodation, literary cenacle and imperial palace.

 

 

The Castello del Catajo was born to celebrate the glories of the Obizzi family, enlarged by the same family in the 17th and 18th centuries and was later transformed into a ducal palace by the Asburgo-Este family of Modena and finally elected imperial holiday residence of the Hapsburg emperors of Austria.

 

 

Already from the sixteenth century it had become home to one of the most important collectibles in Europe.
