DESCRIPTION
If you build a palace like no other, not only is someone invited to stay. Since 1904, only a few of a higher order of hospitality have been regarded as worthy, princesses, Europe's chief blower, King George V and Queen Maria, a handful of statesmen;
A few of the remarkable architects of the story. The world had been closed from the Laxmi Niwas Palace. You can now go one step further.
View of hand-painted friezes and gold-laden walls. Explore the inspiration behind Lutyens' and Baker's architectural style. And perhaps think about the fact that exclusion sometimes makes a place for what it is.
SWARNA MAHAL - RESTAURANT
Go back to a time when lunch was called lunch. Look for usta art on old Burma teak-paneled roof. On the walls, a continuous frieze, in tempera, of scenes from hunts.
In addition, a hand-painted stone slab, the figures as fresh as the day they were laid. This is not the dining room of citizens. Swarna Mahal serves a frighteningly elaborate traditional Rajasthani thali and other regional cuisine with élan.
Lal Maas or Mutton Meat cooked in Gulmohar flowers, is a huge draw. Our kitchen chef is partial to Thai, Indian and many continental staples.
And if what you feel is not on our menu, you have a chef's cook. Your request will probably not go beyond its extensive culinary repertoire.
ROYAL DELUXE ROOM
These can have two singles or one double and were originally the larger bedrooms in the palace. The decorative accents and layout have been lovingly preserved. These spacious, airy rooms overlook a panoramic view of the Lalgarh Estate. A typical example is high above the central courtyard - one of two twin rooms with a connected hallway. These are especially for groups of friends or family on holiday, or for the party of a corporate offsite.
