Beneath the mighty walls, a bond with the Grimaldis of Monaco. A stronghold founded before the year 1000 on the crest of a hill overlooking Taro.
Home to the ‘Gambarotta’ Collection of objets d’art, furniture and pain-tings from the 600s and 700s and the permanent exhibition ‘Masonic Horizons’. Part of the castle has been converted into a hotel and conference centre.
Compiano Castle houses a panigacceria and braceria where you can savour panigacci, a typical speciality of the Lunigiana area, which are highly digestible and can be savoured in their sweet or savoury versions.
The perfect complement to cured meats and cheeses, it is also excellent with chocolate and custard.
In addition to the panigacci, the restaurant serves salads, grilled meats from local farms and home-made desserts in a welcoming and colourful ambience.
You can chose to eat in one of the four rooms inside the restaurant or outside on the terrace.

A few kilometres from Compiano Castle, in the municipality of Albareto, lies another beautiful location, Borgo Casale, a place for the wellbeing of the body and the mind, but also a window overlooking a still surprising and splendid natural landscape.
Borgo Casale provides bedrooms, a restaurant and a spa with dedicated services and a genuine commitment to guests.
