Festetics Castle

 

The Festetics family is one of the most important royal and princely families of Hungary.

 

 

 The family comes from Croatia, since the 17th century they live in Hungary. In 1739 Christoph Festetics (1696-1768) bought the Keszthely property. He began the construction of the castle in 1745, after he had chosen Keszthely as his seat. In order to improve the medical care he had a pharmacy and a hospital.
