HISTORY OF HUIS DE VOORST
Arnold Joost van Keppel, landed gentry of somewhat constrained means, was presented by his father as squire at the Court of King Stadhouder Willem III who had taken up residence at his sparkling new Palace Het Loo in Apeldoorn. The powerful King Stadhouder, husband (widower) of Mary Stuart (died 1692) and King of England, was charmed by Van Keppel who became his boon companion.
Thus Arnold Joost van Keppel, Count of Albemarle, Baron of Ashford, Margrave of Bury, was able in 1695 to commission the architects of Het Loo, Roman and Marot, to build the majestic palace “Huis De Voorst” on his ancestral estate in Eefde.
ENGLISH GARDEN
Weather permitting, the company is invited to use the fine English landscape gardens frequently selected as the spot to cut the wedding cake or have the wedding consecrated. Behind the Manor lies a shrubbery-enclosed private garden where weather permitting dinner may be served.

Our "Luxury Suite called Baron of Ashford" is located on the moat with gorgeous views of the gardens and the mansion. The Suite Koetshuis is charming, classic and elegantly furnished, equipped with American King & Queen size Canopy beds. The Coach House Suite contains the four “Baron van Ashford” Suites. Each Suite is approx 70m2, and is furnished in the classical style with American King-Size & Queen-Size Four-Poster Beds. Each Suite features 2 two-person rooms with bathroom. All stylish Suites are furnished in Dutch Golden Age style reminiscent of the works of Rembrandt & come with modern flat-screen TV and DVD/CD, strongbox, mini-bar & a kitchen studio with seating area.
The annex of Landgoed / Kasteel “Huis de Voorst” provides 34 rooms i.e. 11 one-person rooms and 23 two-person rooms.
