The grandeur of Engelenburg Castle is set amidst 250 acres of landscaped gardens, a golf course and a private forest near Arnhem and Apeldoorn. Located in the garden of Amsterdam, close to the National Park Hoge Veluwe, and no more than 75 minutes by car or train from Amsterdam airport.

HISTORY
Engelenburg Castle had been a private residence for over almost 5 centuries until 1988, when it was converted from a family home to one of Netherlands finest country hotels. The hotel pays tribute to its rich history, with a number of rooms being named to commemorate their notable occupants.

GOLF
Enjoy world-class golf on a superb nine-hole course or at the Golf Academy. From the friendly welcome right through to the drive home, everything you could possibly ask for in a day or weekend’s golf, can be found at the Engelenburg Castle: the magnificent course, luxurious locker rooms and the Netherlands’ most beautiful “clubhouse” that serves great food and drinks.
Threading through high ridges, the course offers lovely woodland settings, lochs and ditches, water hazards, as well as many moorland characteristics, an excellent choice for a golf holiday in the Netherlands.
SERRE RESTAURANT
The award-winning restaurant at the 19th-century Conservatory has a celebrated reputation for its fine cuisine. This highly-acclaimed restaurant’s imaginative menu is based on French cuisine with some international influences, using only the freshest local ingredients. The views over our estate and its golf course will make your lunch or dinner an unforgettable experience.
Our restaurant is probably one of the most beautiful in our country. It is my aim that the taste and presentation of the dish will outdo the ambiance of the restaurant, which we can only achieve with the assistance of a great team.”
WINE CELLAR
During the 16th century, the Count Schimmelpenninck van den Oye used to taste his wines for exporting to the Baltic countries. Today, our beautiful wine cellar stocks over 5000 bottles of wine, while the ambiance creates the perfect setting for wine tastings. Our sommelier, Jurgen Luppes, specialises in the broadest collection of mainly South African wines, as the owners, who lived in the South African Winelands for many years, regularly return to find new wines for our guests.

At Engelenburg Castle Hotel we have 41 en suite bedrooms, each with its own distinctive character, sumptuous decor and a fine view over either the beautiful hotel gardens or the golfcourse. Guests can choose from a range of rooms, including the Conservatory style Suite, Deluxe rooms, each with its own personalised interior design, in the Cape Dutch house and the charming African themed rooms in our Coach House.
