History of Książ Castle
First renovation and reconstruction work was undertaken by Conrad II von Hoberg in the years 1548-55. On the 5th of April 1605, Conrad III von Hoberg bought the hereditary title to Książ domain from Emperor Rudolph III. Johann Henrik von Hoberg transferred the castle to Johann Henrik von Hochberg, of the Olszany branch of the family, in 1628.

The latter was forced to abandon the castle in consequence of the Thirty Years' War campaigns which were fought at the time. The castle was plundered by imperial and Austrian troops, to be rebuilt after the end of military activities. Gardens replaced the defensive walls, which had been demolished. Reconstruction and redevelopment of the castle continued until the late 18th century. Conrad Maximilian von Hochberg became owner of the castle in 1705 and thoroughly rebuilt it.
